College-Prep Athletics

The strength of Magnificat’s Athletic Program is evident not only in our team records and variety of sports offered, but also in the number of student-athletes who go on to play at the collegiate level. Each year, approximately 10-15 commit to join Division I, II, or III athletic teams in college.

For students wishing to pursue collegiate athletics, the NCAA has its own requirements for academic eligibility. To see specific requirements for collegiate Division I and Division II athletics, the following is recommended:
1. Visit the Eligibility Center Website: https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/
2. Click “Register” and create a free profile page
3. Once you have a free profile, on the website you can find details about academic eligibility, a guide for the college-bound student athlete, Magnificat’s approved courses, and more.

Please note, according to the NCAA Eligibility Center:
“A free Profile Page account is the right account if you are a college-bound student-athlete who is: 
  • In high school and staying connected to receive the most current information from the NCAA Eligibility Center.
  • Still deciding which NCAA division is right for you.
  • Planning to compete at an NCAA Division III school and have only attended a U.S. high school.
  • Registering to play at an NCAA-certified non scholastic basketball event (BBCS, ECAG, AAU).”

Please note that the NCAA does not count all of the courses within Magnificat’s course offerings, including: Fundamentals of Algebra, Transitional Geometry, Transitional Algebra, and Intro to World Languages.

    Courses of students transferring into Magnificat are judged by the NCAA in accordance with those schools’ list of acceptable courses, not on Magnificat’s list of NCAA-approved courses.
